At this time of the year, if we have a warm rain for two to three days, I usually find bass in the backs of creeks. I usually fish a jig with a Spike-It Spike-A-Delic chunk midnight moon color on the back. I fish the jig with the Spike-It trailer around cover because when the water warms up in the back of a creek, that’s where the baitfish tend to school. Most of the time I flip a 3/8-ounce jig in 2 to 3 feet of water. I typically fish a black and blue jig, and sometimes a chartreuse jig. Another one of my favorite colors on the jig is green pumpkin. I dip the green pumpkin tail of the trailer in the chartreuse garlic Spike-It Dip-N-Glo dye because I don’t like to match the hatch. I prefer to fish baits that shock a fish when they see it, and I want the fish to be able to see my lure. Another color of trailer I like is the Spike-It Spike-A-Delic chunk monkey melon color because it has brown and orange, and I often fish it on the brown jig.
